Tips: Having a great Limo OutingNew! Wed, August 12, 2009 It’s your wife’s birthday and you want to take her on a luxuriously romantic outing? Your brother’s is getting married and you want his day to start in style? Your loved one is arriving to your home town after a long time and you want him to feel esteemed by taking him on a chauffeur driven limo ride?
Limo ride which was once considered as the rich only ride, with its access limited to the elite, businessman, politicians and VIP’s is now just a phone call away. The trends have changed drastically; you don’t have to be a millionaire to get into a limo now. With various limo rental companies jumping in the market this comforting ride is easier for you to reach.
People rent Limo’s to make their big day more extra-ordinary, comforting, entertaining and lively. Some things must be taken into consideration before hiring a particular limo service to ensure that your day remains special.
These are some tips that will help your transit with your loved one safe, easier, comfortable and eventful.
* Look up for a limo service that has been in the business for at least 10-15 years and check for their references and testimonials by their regular clients. This ensures their reliability, credibility and quality of service.
* When hiring a limo a physical examination of the limo should carried out, this helps you in knowing the seating capacity of the limo, so that you can accommodate the guests accordingly, plus you know which make and model of the limo you are paying for.
* Ask the limo service for their insurance policy. You should make sure that the limo is supported with proper insurance coverage before hiring their services. Some limousine service providers insure their vehicles under a personal auto policy, which rarely cover the clients insurance.
* A professional chauffeur is equally important as a nice vehicle, look for certified commercial chauffeurs, all reputable limo rental services have certified drivers. Make sure that the chauffeur is dressed elegantly and respects your clients, has no drinking or smoking habit. Not at least in the work timings.
* Visit the company yourself before hiring them.
* Book your limo at least a month before you actual commitment.
* Inquire about the company's cancellation policy and get a copy in writing.
* Tip the driver. Extra money will instigate them to serve you and your loved ones better.
These tips come in handy when you are in search of a good limo service.
Happy Cruising.

Each year, we have experienced our reunion with all kinds of activities such as planting a tree, organizing a family softball /volleyball game, enjoying the sunshine at a beach and so on. Would you want to spend this family reunion in a meaningful and economical way during such recession time? Here below is a one-day gathering timeline and activity outline.
Activity outline of this summer vacation

 2.Afternoon: Have a simple lunch and then enjoy genealogy slideshow made with memorable pictures, from the new babies to the proud grandparents
 3.Night: Hold a Night BBQ along with talent show to bring your own karaoke music
You do not need to go out farther and do not need to pay for the recreation ground to save your budget. Certainly, you can incorporate some other activities to plan a two-day reunion.
Create a genealogy slideshow
1> Things to be prepared
 1.A computer with PowerPoint installed, or some other photo slideshow software
 2.Pictures of family members
If you have a computer with Microsoft PowerPoint installed, you can make a family album to remember and cherish the special moments of each member in your family history. And you do not need to buy and learn to use other photo slideshow software.
2>Steps to create a genealogy slideshow
Step 1: Collect pictures
You should ask other family members to provide pictures.
Pictures on special events or funny pictures about your family members would be OK. Pictures and video clips of both new babies and grandparents are required.
Step 2: Save all the digital pictures and the scanned ones in a new document with a name of family album
Step 3: Create a family reunion slideshow with PowerPoint and you can start the album with the pictures of your forefathers, and then the younger ones, at last the kids.
Step 4: Add a number of vivid caption bubbles to describe the pictures and bring more life to this slideshow.
Step 5: Add video clips to your slideshow
You can add some family video clips that you have collected from the family member to spice up your slideshow. Click here to know how to add videos to PowerPoint presentation.
Step 6: Add music to your slideshow
Click the article How to Add Music Song to PowerPoint Presentation to know the details.
Recommended sweet songs
Here is a list of songs that really show an appreciation and love between or for family members, you can choose one of them to add to your slideshow.
"Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle
"Then They Do" by Trace Adkins
"Find Your Wings" by Mark Harris
"My Front Porch Looking In" by Lonestar
"I Will Be Here" by Steven Curtis Chapman
…
Well done! A meaningful genealogy slideshow is completed ahead of your family reunion.
Enjoy the genealogy slideshow
Family members can enjoy the genealogy slideshow that you created after lunch. You can view it on computer with your family together. I also want to suggest you view PowerPoint slideshow on wide screen TV or plasma if you have a big family.
To view PowerPoint slideshow on TV, you need to save your PowerPoint to DVD. There are many ways to burn PowerPoint to DVD. An all-on-one PowerPoint to DVD burner named PPT2DVD is recommended. With the built-in burner of this PowerPoint to DVD converter, you can make duplicated copies by burning the output DVD folder or image (iso) file to blank DVDs without converting it again. Then you can disperse it to your relatives for long preserve and memory.
During the Night BBQ and talent show, you may also take vast amount of pictures. In the same way, you can create and distribute the slideshow to other members. You can also make karaoke music DVD with this method.
Enjoy it and have a nice summer family reunion.

Kathie’s Handwork Courses are designed to lead students toward educating or re-educating certain faculties where difficulties are experienced. Each project is approached in an artistic way and makes use of four main modalities: drawing, painting, sculpture and handwork.
Although the finished project is often beautiful as well as functional, the most important consideration is the process that students go through, a process that is both educational and therapeutic. For example, knitting, sewing, felting and sculpture perhaps most directly develop and train our fingers and the form building capacity of the hand muscles. Painting enhances color awareness, calms emotions and enriches imagination, while drawing trains fine motor skills, develops hand/eye coordination and has a calming effect on the inner life.
Handwork courses for students of all ages. Taught in schools, retirement homes and corporations in the US and Ontario, recently offering classes at: Donway Place, Massey Center, Ontario Early Years Centre, Hazelton Place, St Andrew's College and Torys LLP.

Managing Adult AD/HD WorkshopNew! Wed, April 5, 2006 Managing Adult AD/HD Workshop

The Managing Adult Workshop is the Foundation's cornerstone workshop developed and presented by the Foundation's founder Robert Cooper.
The workshop, in its simplest terms, is personal growth for the AD/HD adult. However it is much more. Although being AD/HD affects all aspects of the AD/HD individuals' life the workshop specifically deals with:
Personal organization- AD/HD style,
Understanding the affect of being AD/HD has on the individual and those around them,
Workplace efficiency, assisting the employee or business owner to become more productive,
Stabilizes relationships in both the home and work environments,

And, most importantly,
Provide a framework for the AD/HD individual to understand themselves leading to higher self-confidence.
In short, the workshop directs and provides life changing processes and coping skills which aid AD/HD individuals to grow beyond their present understanding of who they are and where they belong within society.

This workshop also includes a valuable 2 hour "Significant Other" workshop Saturday evening from 7pm to 9pm.

Rebuttal To Article on Irlen Filters and Learning DisabilitiesNew! Wed, September 18, 2002 In a rebuttal to the Informed Consumer's article entitled "Irlen Filters and Learning Disabilities", Dr. Greg Robinson, from the Special Education
Centre at the University of Newcastle in Australia, argues that the viewpoint presented in the article was narrow and misguided in its
conclusion that the evidence for the use of Irlen filters is weak and largely unsubstantiated. Dr. Robinson conducts research in the area of Irlen Syndrome and in his rebuttal tries to provide us with what he claims to be a more balanced review of the evidence currently out there on the efficacy of Irlen filters. Dr. Robinson points out that there are errors in the way that the author reported the results and that little attention was paid to the many published and well controlled studies, which clearly indicate that coloured filters can make positive changes to reading ability. This critique provides a more thorough look at the research on Irlen's filters and additionally, provides an excellent collection of references for those readers interested in developing and pursuing a deeper understanding of the topic.

Irlen Filters and Learning DisabilitiesNew! Mon, July 15, 2002 This month's installment in the Informed Consumer Series looks at the origins, and research, surrounding the use of Irlen lenses and overlays to improve reading for learners with so called "Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome (SSS)." While there are many anecdotal reports of benefit derived from the use of Irlen filters, there is no solid scientific evidence to suggest that these benefits are any more than a placebo effect. Learn more about the issues surrounding Irlen filters and SSS by reading "Irlen Filters and Learning Disabilities"

The Efficacy of NeurofeedbackNew! Tue, July 2, 2002 This months contribution to the Informed Consumer Series looks at research
surrounding the use on neurofeedback as a treatment for ADHD. While a
significant body of research has studied neurofeedback treatments, virtually all of these
studies leave room for effects from sources other than the neurofeedback. Only one
of the studies reviewed included a control group, and none had before and after EEG results
from which to make judgements about the treatment's efficacy. While there
are plenty of anecdotal claims, the research has not confirmed that neurofeedback
is an effective treatment for ADHD.

Representations of ResearchNew! Fri, May 31, 2002 This months installment in the Informed Consumer Series looks at
research that suggests that long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acid (LCP)
deficiency may be related to learning disabilities. Much of the research
associated with LCP/LD is preliminary, though conclusions made, and promotion of
treatments, often do not reflect this fact. It is too early to conclude that LCP
supplements are an effective treatment for LD. This month's article looks at
misrepresentations of research, and the negative effects those representations
can have on potentially promising treatments.
(Long-Chain Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids and Learning Disabilities)
Learning Awareness SeriesNew! Fri, May 31, 2002 One of the most powerful learning tools a person with a learning disability can possess is self-awareness. With self-awareness learners are better able to adapt, taking advantage of their knowledge of personal strengths, and avoiding or circumventing areas of personal weakness. This series of online exercises is intended to help learners understand the processes of learning, and equip them with learning skills they can carry with them throughout their lifetimes.

Making Sense of the EvidenceNew! Fri, April 26, 2002 This month's installment in the Informed Consumer series looks at understanding research as it applies to learning disabilities interventions. This first article in the series looks at cautions that should be considered when choosing an intervention, and how to determine if the research supporting an intervention is in fact sound research. Many LD interventions exist though there are relatively few that have gone through the rigors of scientific investigation to determine if they are truely effective. By understanding the relevant research, consumers are better equipped to choose an effective course of treatment, and avoid frustration and disappointment arising from misrepresented claims of untested interventions.

To be a good consumer, whether it is for goods or services, one should be well informed. Generally, when we purchase a commodity, we take the time to research the value of that commodity. If we don’t, we run the risk of being disappointed, wasting money and our time. Interventions and treatments for learning disabilities are services. When using these services, it is important to understand how they work and the evidence that supports their claims. This series of articles will present information that will make the reader a better consumer of services purporting to help children and young people with learning disabilities.
