How to use the Board:
To view Board messages ("message" is the term given to any individual posting), select a category from the list of "Available forums". A record of all messages and replies posted under a particular topic is then displayed. To access a specific message simply select the subject and the message appears along with the author's name and the date it was posted. Members can post new messages within a topic or reply to messages posted by others. Below is a listing and explanation of the various commands:
Explanation of Board Commands
- Collapse Threads: Collapses or hides all threads (i.e. replies) linked to a specific topic
- Email replies to this thread, to the address above: Automatically directs all responses to a posting to the member's email address
- Flat View: Displays the original message and all replies in their entirety in the order in which they were posted
- Forum List: Returns members to the list of available forums
- Go to Top: Returns members to the topics listed under a specific forum
- Go to Topic: Returns members to the first message posted under a particular topic
- Mark All Read: All new postings to a board are indicated by the word "new" in red. "Mark All Read" removes all "new" markers indicating messages have been viewed
- Newer Topic: Displays the newest topic added to an existing forum
- New Topic: Allows members to create a new topic of discussion under an existing forum
- Older Topic: Displays topics (and their accompanying threads) in descending order from the oldest to the newest posting
- Post: Adds your message or reply to a message to the board
- Previous Message/Next Message: Displays the previous message; Advances to next message
- Quote: Automatically inserts the original message beneath your reply
- Reply To This Message: Allows members to respond to a specific message by automatically inserting their login name, email address, and the subject in a reply form.
- Search: Enter a keyword to locate the Author, Subject, or Message posted to a board
- Threaded View: Displays the subject of a specific topic and its accompanying "threads"
- Up One Level: Returns members to the list of all available forums on the LDRC site
- View Threads: Lists (by subject) all replies or "threads" linked to a particular topic
Create your own Board
For members who wish to moderate their own message board, please contact the LDRC with your request, providing a brief outline of your plan to use the message board. Message boards may be customized with your own header and footer to give it a look other than the LDRC standard template.
