In Memory of Dr. Nancy BensonIt is with deepest regret that we acknowledge the passing of a dear friend and colleague. On February 4th 2003 Dr. Nancy Benson succumb to complications brought on by a stroke. Nancy was in the truest sense of the phrase, "a beautiful person." Her devotion to children with learning disabilities, and her steadfast enthusiasm for advancing the understanding of learning disabilities, were truly extraordinary. She was taken from us long before her time; there was so much more she had to offer. Nancy's legacy will live on in the many children she helped learn to read, and the many students who had the privilege of learning from her. Her work at the Hospital for Sick Children and the University of Toronto, will continue through the Learning Disabilities Research Program, and the many teachers who were able to participate in the ground breaking research she lead. Nancy Benson is survived by a Husband and young daughter. We offer our sincerest condolences to her family and friends, and hope that their grieving quickly subsides. Nancy, we miss you. We can never replace you. We will never forget you. [ Donations in memory of Nancy Benson's life, can be made through the Hospital For Sick Children Foundation.] |
