Sternberg-Wagner Thinking Styles Inventory

Read the instructions below, complete the form below those instructions, then press the "Begin" button to start the Sternberg-Wagner Thinking Styles Inventory. You will be presented with 104 individual items. Plan to spend 20 to 30 minutes completing the inventory. After completing all 104 items you will be presented with a profile of your thinking styles. Be sure to read through the LDRC Introduction to thinking styles on the Thinking Styles Inventory Project Page, and read "Variations of Thinking Styles" for a brief description of the principles of thinking styles, and the charcteristics associated with each. You are also encouraged to read Robert Sternberg's book "Thinking Styles" for a detailed description of thinking style, with practical examples from school, work, and everyday life.


Notice: Be aware that your results will be publicly available for you and others to view. By completing the inventory you are agreeing to make your results available for others so they may learn about thinking styles. Nowhere will your name or any identifying information be associated with your results, other than an anonymous User ID number. If you do not agree with these conditions, you should not continue.

Instructions
  • Complete the form below then press the Begin button. Once you have begun, select from the seven choices how well a particular statement in the inventory describes you:
  • 1. not at all well
    2. not very well
    3. slightly well
    4. somewhat well
    5. well
    6. very well
    7. extremely well
  • Take your time when making choices, if you need to think. You are not being timed.
  • View your results after completing all 104 items.


Notes: the inventory must be completed for results to be saved. Also note that this inventory has been standardized with non-student adults and may not produce accurate results for other groups.
